In Delhi, Swara Bhasker was born to C. Uday Bhaskar, a Telugu-born Indian Navy officer, and his wife Ira Bhaskar, a Bihari-born professor of cinema studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi. Varanasi was the hometown of her paternal grandma.
Bhasker was born and raised in Delhi, where she attended Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, where she received her education. Her next stop was Delhi University’s Miranda House, where she met fellow actress Minissha Lamba while studying English literature. The Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi, is where she earned her master’s degree in sociology.
